Ambassador Program

The heart and soul of any growing and thriving community should be its local Chamber of Commerce. Likewise, the heart and soul of any growing and thriving Chamber should be its methodology for reaching out to the community. The Little Elm Chamber of Commerce does this in many ways, with the most visible effort being their Ambassador program.

Ambassadors with the Chamber of Commerce are the "face" of the Chamber. Among other things, members will be visible at grand openings and ribbon cuttings of new businesses, they will serve as table hosts at Chamber luncheons and similar functions, they will recruit new members and make efforts to retain old members.

Prospective members in the Ambassadors complete a short application that is reviewed by existing Ambassadors, as well as by the Chamber's Board of Directors. The first and foremost criteria is that the applicant be an active and involved Chamber member prior to applying. Members who are already taking an active role in their community, supporting existing businesses and encouraging new business, are given first consideration. In this way, Ambassador endeavors become a natural extension of efforts they are already making.

There is no additional cost to becoming an Ambassador beyond Chamber membership, other than an investment of time and involvement. Successful Ambassadors come to as many official Chamber functions as possible. They meet the new business owners, welcoming them to the community, while gaining the added benefit of networking opportunities to grow their own businesses through these contacts and appearances. They contact businesses who are up for renewal, as well as those who have recently joined or renewed, thanking them personally for their patronage and support. They contact businesses who elect not to renew, in an effort to determine why, with the goal being to provide better services in the future by learning from and correcting past mistakes.

Ambassadors proudly wear a name badge that identifies them individually. In addition to their individual name, the name of their business is reflected on the badge. This gives a visual reinforcement to visitors and new members alike that this person is representing the Chamber, in addition to being an active and involved business patner in the community.

Ambassadors are additionally recognized on the Chamber's web site, through this web page dedicated to them. Each Ambassador is given a link directly from this Chamber page to their businesses web site, giving them the opportunity for better name recognition, as well as the prospect of immediate contact by prospective customers for their businesses.

Ambassadors are likewise eligible for special recognition by being named Ambassador of the Month, Quarter and Year. This recognition is attained by the use of a points system. Ambassadors work on the honor system and maintain their own points based on the activities in which they participate. Totals are submitted monthly to the Ambassador team leader, who reports everyone's totals back to the membership. Members who attain these various recognitions are awarded additional special considerations, such as a free, automatic membership upgrade at their next renewal, reduced prices as Chamber functions and featured recognition on the Chamber web site, in addition to various other awards and perks.

Being an Ambassador is a privilege that must be earned, and once earned, must be maintained through consistent involvement in Chamber related activities. If you are a Chamber member and would like more information about becoming an Ambassador please contact the current Ambassador team leader by e-mail at communityservices@littleelm.org or by contacting Chamber Executive Director Becky Horn.
